Park & Recreation Meeting Minutes

The meeting was opened by Commissioner Jeanne Reed-Waldron at 6:30 pm. The next meeting of the Park and Recreation will June 14, 2017 at 6:30 pm.

There was no public comment.

Bills were reviewed and approved.  Minutes were reviewed and approved.  

The storage shed was delivered on May 25th.  The board reviewed Whalley Park job posting.  Cara will contact newspaper to have it listed.  There was a complaint about the lower soccer fields not being mowed.  The field was never reserved through the Park & Rec. office otherwise it would have been prepped for soccer use.  The cost for Nonprofit pavilion rental will be $25.00.  Wayne was prepping the 90’ for the high school and there were many dogs out on the field.  The dog droppings are not being picked up and the kids playing are slipping on the droppings.  Cara will put up temporary signs stating no dogs allowed on the ball field and order permanent signs.  We should consider locking the gates on the 90’.  

The FOSRT is asking if P&R has funds to put toward the Miller Street pavement.  Cara will have a purchase order made out to Crestview for $1,200 toward the paving.  There are rail trail posts at DPW. Brooks of FOSRT will get them from Chris Faria and store them at Whalley Park maintenance building.

The renovations at the park are complete and the park opened on May 15, 2017.
