COA Monthly Meeting
October 17, 2016
 
MEETING CALLLED TO ORDER 10:00am
 
Presiding: Rebecca Perron
 
Present:  Roy Benson, Mary Alice Martin, Joan Plancon, Mary Jane Connolly, Herb Pace, Associate members: Carol Laughlin, Paula LeBlanc, Donna Charron, and Director Cindy Sullivan.
 
Absent:   Harriet Fischer
 
Minutes:  Reviewed -  correction, Mary Jane presided September meeting not Roy Benson. Mary Alice motioned to approve minutes with amendment, Joan second, approved by all.
 
Bills: Reviewed - Mary Alice moved to accept, Roy second, approved by all.
 
New Business:
 
Update from COA Director:
 
  • Smoke Detector Program October 29th, 9:00am -3:00pm. About thirty people signed up. Cindy and reps from the Fire Dept and Red Cross will be installing smoke detectors.
  • Laughter Workshop - twenty to twenty five people attended.
  • Pen Pal and reading Buddies - Fifteen seniors have signed up with first graders at Woodland school.
  • Cultural Council Grant - applied for a singer. We can't get one for Christmas because grants need to be open to public.
  • Lorraine Lawrence - two hundred seventy five dollars for gift account has been donated in her name, will have a leaf put on memoriam tree.
     
Updates:
 
  • Classes - five free classes are done, good turnout.
  • Transportation - fine
  • Dining Center - Walter Deyo is new meals on wheels driver
  • Brown Bag - donations not being accepted anymore per Food Bank
  • Finances - good
Old Business:
 
  • Positive comments on mural in exercise room
  • MooLicious will again furnish dinners for seniors for Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Party - December 14, 2016, raffle off coupons for classes
  • Senior Center signs on outside doors per town
  • New carpets being put down in January
  • Eight Hundred dollars to move pool table - Roy motion not to pay, Rebecca second, approved by all.

     
Motion to adjourn - Mary Alice moved, Joan second, approved by all.
