COA Meeting Minutes

MEETING CALLLED TO ORDER 1:00pm
 
Presiding: Roy Benson
 
Present:  Joan Plancon, Herb Pace, Rebecca Perron, Mary Jane Connolly, Associate members: Paula LeBlanc, Donna Charron, Carol Laughlin and Director Cindy Sullivan.
 
Absent: Harriet Fischer and Mary Alice Martin
 
Minutes: Reviewed and accepted. Herb moved to accept, Rebecca second, approved by all.
 
Bills: Reviewed and signed.
 
New Business:
 
  • Staff Meeting being covered.
  • Students from Westfield Technical Academy will do sketches of the murals for the exercise room.
  • Eric Rogers from Westfield Technical Academy will teach cooking classes starting April 12th, 9:30am to 11:30am downstairs. Cost is $5.00, making Lemon pound cake.
  • Volunteer Luncheon - will be held at Tuckers May 18th, Southwick High School chorus to entertain.
  • Sarah Gillette Grant - no grant for Computer class but put in grant for Laughter Therapy Workshop.
  • Talent Show - May 4th, 1:00pm, eight acts have signed up.
  • Picture contest in dining room - photos on  bulletin board, guess the person.
  • St. Patrick's Day Breakfast - 8:30am, 35 people have signed up. Cost, $3.00.
  • Highland Valley Board - Mary Jane to stay until June, Carol volunteered. Herb moved to accept, Roy second, all approved.
  • Rite Aid - Pharmacist to have flu clinic October 4th. May set up regular talks on health issues once a month.
Updates:
 
  • Classes - Tai Chi instructor would like to start a beginners class in the fall. Westfield people have been coming to Southwick for Zumba and other classes.   
  • Transportation - more trips being planned, need to check on mileage of Volunteer Van.
  • Dining Center - suggested donation went up to $3.00. Donna Charron passed out info on Mass. Nutrition Program.
  • Brown Bag - now serving 48 bags
  • Finances - fine
Old Business:
 
  • Cindy ordering 16 new chairs without arms. Money is coming from the Formula Grant and remainder from class money.
  • COA Board training in Northampton, April 14th, 9:15am to 11:45am. Registration at 8:45am.
     
Motion to adjourn, Joan moved, Herb second. Approved by all.
