Park & Recreation Meeting Minutes

The meeting was opened by Commissioner Patrick Roche at 6:30 pm. The next meeting of the Park and Recreation will July 13, 2016 at 6:30 pm.
 
Public Comment
Bill Jenkins owns property near beach.  He would like to donate $100 to P&R for use of right away.  John Whalley motioned to approve donation for right away access; Jeanne Reed-Waldron seconded and the motion was approved.
 
Review Minutes and Bills
Bills were reviewed and approved.  Minutes were reviewed and approved.  
 
Whalley Park
Special deadbolts are being ordered for the bathrooms.  They will not be able to lock from inside.  Hand dryers were installed at all the bathrooms.  Maintenance wants to know if they should remove paper towel dispensers.  Commission agreed to leave in the event that we need them.  John Whalley spoke to Kirk Sanders about parking for motocross.  Kirk said to charge RV’s $40 and cars $10.  John will need flags and vests for volunteers to help with parking.  Pat needs 50 bags of cement for benches to be installed on the fields.  Pat put together six aluminum picnic tables under the pavilion.  Joe Hugh had attendance of 56 kids at the camp he held at the park.  
 
Rail Trail
Miller Road paving for additional parking spots is complete.  Friends Group would like to make bigger if there are any extra funds.  Cara will contact DPW to remove the broken water fountain.
 
Prifti Park
Concrete was poured and excavated.
 
Town Beach
Southwick Baptist Church is holding their baptism at the beach July 3rd.  Schedule Senior Sizzler for July 27th.  Cindy Sullivan of the senior center requested in case of rain it be held at the Town Hall Senior Center.
