Whalley Park
Joe Hough would like to run a sports camp at Whalley Park from June 27 – July 1, 2016.  He would like Park & Recreation, the Recreation Center and Schools to partner for this program.  He will put together the program, staff and advertise.  Payments would be processed through team snap on line.  They would be covered under the Rec Center insurance.  Program would be from 9-11:15 with warm up and stretch and sports activity, lunch and high level sport training minicamp.  The camp will be for ages 7-16 with approximately 60-90 kids in attendance.  The price will be $80-$120 per kid depending on if they choose half day or full day.  Salaries will be paid out of tuition.  The remainder would be split between the School, Rec Center and Park and Recreation.  Payroll for the staff would be through the recreation center.  He would like to get in the Middle school in the event of rain.  Jeanne suggested offering a camp for less aggressive kids that want to play.  Joe was open to that.  Joe would like to use the T-ball fields at Whalley Park.  They have 4 teams with 9-10 kids per team.  Joe will get dates of use and insurance policy to P&R.

JB is inquiring about using a field for the Dragons 11-12.  He also said Mustangs team would like to use the fields for baseball from April to August with double headers every other weekend.  He would be willing to see if someone can move the fence in exchange for field time.  JB will talk to Mustangs and get back to P&R.  The sizzler will be July 23rd - 31st.  They would be willing to give P&R some profit from the sizzler.  Discussion of fee structure for the softball and baseball fields.  Jeanne Reed-Waldron motioned to set rental of the baseball and softball fields at $600 for the season for one game and one practice per week, with a maximum of 12 games.  Additional practices will be $25.00 each and additional games will be $50.00 each; Mike Massarelli seconded and the motion was approved.  John Whalley will contact Kirk Sanders about the stop signs.

Prifti Park
John Westcott would like approval to remove the damaged bench near the basketball courts. The board said it is okay to remove the bench.  John will provide results from inspection to P&R.

Rail Trail
Brooks wants to buy gravel.  Pat will get a dump truck to transport it.  Dig Safe went out and marked the area for the fence at Miller Road.  Friends of Southwick Library would like to post book sale flyers.  Frank LaBranche removes and disposes of trash along the rail trail.  He started off emptying two trash barrels years ago.  He is up to 5 trash containers along the trail.  Mike motioned to increase Frank LaBranche rate of pay to $50 to remove the trash on the rail trail; Jeanne Reed-Waldron seconded and the motion was approved.

Children’s Easter Egg Hunt
March 26, 2016 – 11:00am at Whalley Park.  P&R board will meet at town hall at 9:30am to set up.  Volunteers scheduled to be at Whalley Park for 10:30.
