Library Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes

Present: Diane Caruso (Director), Tammy Ciak-Bissaillon, Nancy Zdun, Carol Geryk, Michael McMahon, Tracy Meczywor and Suzanne Davis

The regular meeting of the Southwick Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order at 7:00 PM on Feb 12, 2016 in the Community Room.

Public Comment

Communication

The new Young Adult librarian, Jacqueline Hart, will start on 2/16
The Legislative Breakfast was held on 2/5. Diane and Mike both attended, as well as Rep. Boldyga and Senator Humason. Rep. Boldyga will be joining the Legislative Library Caucus.
Snow events – the library was closed at 1pm on 2/4 and 5:30 pm on 2/8 due to snow
Diane presented the library’s 2016/2017 budget to the Fincom members on 2/6
Diane is preparing to submit request grants to the Sarah Gillett (Large print books) and Shurtleff (Science and Space related items for children) foundations.
Diane has submitted the Library’s annual report to Town Hall

Meeting Minutes

A motion to accept the minutes (with changes) of Jan 12, 2016 meeting was made by Tammy. Suzanne seconded the motion and the minutes were accepted.

Old business

The name of the home delivery program will be “SPL Books on the Go for the Home Bound”. Diane will be including details of the program in the next library newsletter and Cindy Sullivan (Director of the Senior Center) will include a pamphlet with the packaged delivered to the home bound. Diane will also contact the area churches to assist identifying people who would use the service.

New Business

Diane was informed by Town Hall that they needed a midyear report of her goals and objectives. We reviewed the document with Diane. Mike will write up a paragraph to be added to the document.
