Lake Management Committee Meeting Minutes

 

                

Guest:  Greg  Fitzpatrick, reporter Westfield News, Rick Seaman, Sunset street West Suffield, Ct

1. Eric Muller gave update on water quality, The quality is poor, Middle Pond is the worst.  Dr. Wagner expects there could be an algae bloom in the next few weeks.  We should all be watching for signs on one.  Eric reviewed who to notify if we see one.  Eric is the point of contact is we see signs of a bloom.   

2. Eric asked what was the outcome of the three docks on right going into North Pond.  Steve reported nothing is being done and they have dock permits.  Steve stated there is no residence at the location so he was not sure how the owner got a permit, but they had one with a sticker showing.

3. Eric asked what was being done about the 27 ft cabin cruiser on South Pond that appears to violate Town Bylaw Chapter 76-2M (Class 1 less than 26 ft).  Mike Coombs stated the issue was left with Dick talking to the Chief.  Some discussion about what options were available if nothing is done, the discussion was tabled until we hear for Dick on the Chief’s decision.

4. Rick stated he had talked with the Police officers when he was driving the divers around in the Town boat.  They stated they do more to educate the people than to give tickets.  This caused  a long discussion about ticketing verses educating the boaters.  Many felt we have repeat offenders that need to be ticketed.  Mike DeBay stated the repeaters move lake to lake out of view of the police so they usually do not get seen by the police boat and no good solutions were offered.  

5. The next scheduled meeting is Aug.  11, 2016.
