WE ARE CELEBRATING JOLABOKAFLOD!

What is Jolabokaflod?  In Iceland, books are exchanged as presents on Christmas Eve and then the Icelanders spend the night reading them and eating chocolate.  This is part of the season known as Jolabokaflod (the flood of books).  Iceland produces more books per capita than any other country and the sales peak between September and November as residents prepare for the holiday.  During the long winter nights, the Icelanders spend time reading.

We are going to put a Yankee twist on this tradition.  Participants are asked to bring a gently used, giftwrapped book that you think others will enjoy.  We will use a Yankee Swap format.  Participant will draw a number to establish the order selections will be made in and the fun will begin.  We haven’t forgotten the chocolate part of this tradition.  There will be chocolate candy for you to enjoy too!

This event will be offered at two different times on Tuesday, January 29.   In the afternoon, the event will start at 1:30 p.m. and in the evening we will start at 6:30 p.m.  There is no need to register!
