The scheduled meeting of the Cemetery Commission was opened at 9:05 a.m. by Roy Benson.
Routine Business
- The minutes were read for the meeting of January 4, 2011. Diane made A MOTION to accept the minutes, seconded by Sharon (vote - unanimous).
Old Business -
- The leaf blower and hedge trimmer were purchased.
New Business -
- Diane checked online for plaques and prices for placement on trees through the donation program. Diane will put together a notice on Channel 15 informing everyone of the donation program for trees.
- Bud has informed the Commission that he will be purchasing grass seed, shovels and new blades for walk-behind mower for the opening of the cemetery.
- Diane informed the Commission that she has joined a newly formed sub-committee to create by-laws for future cemeteries that would be located in the Town under the direction of the Planning Board. She will keep the Commission updated.
- Roy discussed the possibility of a designated place in the New Cemetery for the scattering of cremated remains, called a ‘Scattering Garden’. Names of the deceased will be added to a proposed monument. Roy would like the commission to look into this option. This will be discussed further at the next meeting.
- The next scheduled meeting will be April 5, 2011.
No other business. Diane made A MOTION to adjourn the meeting at 9:40 a.m., seconded by Sharon (vote - unanimous).
