COA Meeting Minutes

Meeting, held at Senior Center Meeting Room, called to order by COA Director, Cindy Sullivan at 10:02 AM

Absent:  Mary Jane Connolly, Herb Pace, Mary Alice Martin
Having had a board member resign, the quorum reflects the number of current board members
 
No Public Comment
 
Minutes reviewed - Motion made to accept by Joan, seconded by Paula, no discussion, motion carried unanimously
 
Bills were reviewed and signed
 
New Business:
Update from COA Director:  
  • Resignation of Board Member Rebecca Perron, she will be missed.  A motion was made by Joan to accept her resignation, seconded by Paula, no discussion, the motion carried unanimously.  Paula nominated Carol Laughlin to become a board member, seconded by Joan.  The vote was unanimous.  Carol’s name will now be forwarded to the Select Board for final approval.  COA Director Cindy will now advertise for interested candidates to become new associate board members.
  • The Luau will be held on June 21, 2017, from 11:00-1:00 at the Senior Center.  Professional Hawaiian Dancers will perform.  The cost is $5.00. Food will be served.  About 40 people have already signed up to attend. Board members signed up for various duties to help make this a success.
  • The new Pen Pals and Reading Programs, collaboration with the Southwick Schools, went really well.  An end of the school year gathering is planned for Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Woodland School, including a student performance. Small gifts will be given to each student.  Both will continue next year with a little revision.
  • The House numbering program in conjunction with the local Fire Department is in the works. The numbers have been ordered.  A Kick-off event is being planned.  The 1st. 100 people will be free.
  • The Tax Work Off Program is under way.  8 of 10 eligible spots have been filled.  The schools have been very cooperative.
Update on:
Classes - Going very well.  Some will continue through the summer.  
Transportation - A driver is still needed.
Dining Center - Doing well.
Brown Bag - Everyone called, reminded to come in, more people are coming in.  Extra food is brought to the local food pantry.
Finances - Good.  Very comfortable chairs were purchased, as well as a new table.  Some discussion followed concerning Highland Valley Grants.  COA Director Cindy explained that certain specifications were changed and we no longer qualify.
 
Old Business:
  • Monitor and Video were installed in the hallway. Much positive feedback has come in about this.
  • Painting of the Exercise Room will likely take place in August.
Paula made the Motion to adjourn, Roy seconded, motion carried unanimously.  
 
Meeting adjourned at 10:35 AM.
