Minutes
March 19, 2008
Members in Attendance: Sam Santaniello, Chairman, Roz Terry, Vice Chairman, Karen Legace, and Lori Rindels
Others: Nancy Cormier, Owner of Subway
The meeting came to order at 7:00 p.m and all of those present were introduced.
1. Discussion of passing sign bylaws so that signage is similar and the resulting expense for town businesses. Need more details in our sign bylaws in regards to temporary signs. Sam suggested that we have a meeting with all the town businesses to get their input on the topic.
2. Discussion about once Mass Highway finishes the road, sidewalks, planters and trees are in that along with grants establishing a business association.
3. At that time once sidewalks are in foot traffic will be increased. If we can get the planters through grants perhaps the stores can maintain the planters that are placed in front of the stores by SCRC.
4. Nancy Cormier from Subway asked that if Mass Highway is going to come in and the businesses have to take down existing signage are there grants that will help the businesses recover the costs associated with moving the existing signs or replacing them?
5. It was agreed that focus needs to be put into grants that we could obtain. A note book needs to be kept with a list of all of the grants that may be available that can be accessible to the members of SCRC.
6. Lighting. Is it going to be maintained by town or state? Lori will contact Jeff Neece about this. We will also ask about park benches, trash cans, planters, Christmas/holiday ornaments, etc. Need to know height, price points, etc.
