7:00 PM The Meeting was called to Order by John Stadnicki, Chairman with 6 members present.  The Minutes of March 12, 2008 were reviewed.  Tom Lane made a motion to approve the Minutes of March 12th.  2nd= M Mizanoglu  All in Favor   Motion Carried

1. Copies of the MA DCR Grant revised proposal were reviewed.  Changes had been made to the plan to reflect enlarged wet areas after John Stadnicki and Tom Lane walked the area as the snow started to melt.  The SOSPC went over the revisions with Mr. Chunglo.  Additional sources of mulch were discussed.

2. The results from the Survey were reviewed.  The number of households reached was 302 from  a projected 983 citizens. The Chair will prepare a written synopses.

3. 5th Annual Green & Clean May 3rd - A DeLoreto has said he would contact sponsors but will not have much time this year to participate otherwise. D Clark reported 500 bags have been ordered at a cost projected to be $40.00.  Discussion was held regarding the ability to get a truck in to the Goose Pond parcel to remove the trash there.  M Mizanoglu made a motion to have a volunteer remove the scrap metal.  2nd= R Solek  All in Favor  Motion Carried.  Mention was made of the possibility of getting T Shirts for the ladies at the Notch.  J Stadnicki to do the posters and press release.  

4.  Goose Pond Sandpit Restoration project- Bettye Bradley stated the contractor is going to be Green Island Landscape from North Granby Ct. The quotes were comparable.  Work is to begin Friday, April 11th.  Access has been obtained.  Anticipate liability issues with the motorized vehicles in the field.  Need a temporary fence to be put in place behind Iroquois Drive.  The site is to be graded, tree clumps are to be relocated, 2+ acres are to be seeded with warm season grasses.  35 Pitch Pine trees and sweet fern are to be planted.  The area will need to be tamped down after seeding.  

5.  Kiosk Plexiglass - Project is ready to move forward as soon as a carpenter to do the work is located.  Mr Deyo is to be asked to move the cement berm from 187 MV to 155 MV.

6. 155 Mort Vining - It was reported that 95% of the trees have been removed from the small cluster of trees at NRCS Field #4.  So far all work has been volunteered.  The larger than 4 inch dead trees remain as there is a danger to the person sawing them down.  Eventually they will fall on their own. It was agreed that the metal accumulated at this site can also be included in the scrap removal.  B Bradley mentioned the need for 6 yards of loam to be delivered.
S Ricker proposal - The email  sent to the SOSPC regarding an Osprey Nesting platform to be erected at Goose Pond was reviewed.  Seth Kellogg that no apparent harm is being done to the Osprey nesting on the cell tower.  There are similar man-made structures in the area that successfully raise youn osprey in similar situations.   

7.  Land Maintenance Line item - Committee members reviewed the account.  Discussion was held regarding what the next priority should be. R Solek reported on the prices, construction factors and availability for a shed to house SOSPC accumulated materials.  

8.  Proposed Bicycle Trail @ Sofinowski Preserve.  It was determined that the bike trail will fall under Passive Recreation.  Mr. Deyo will meet with the local Mountain Bike Club and Tom Lane to determine the area for the trail and the costs involved.
