----- Agenda Topics -----
7:00 PM The Meeting was called to Order by John Stadnicki, Chairman with 7members present.
1. Conservation Commissioner Al DeLoreto gave the Committee an update on last year's Green & Clean project and inquired if the Committee would support the project in 2008 or did they wish to take a year off. The Committee felt the project should be held annually. It was decided to hold the event May 3rd. Craig Samuelson (The Notch) is to be contacted regarding hosting the group again this year. Robin Solek is to be invited back with her group.
2. Goose Pond Turtle nesting area restoration - It was noted the project needs to be ready to begin as soon as the snow is gone. April 1 the turtles commence moving about after being dormant for the winter and the search for a mate begins. There were issues over moving clumps of trees. Little Blue Stem needs to be sown in April. The Pitch Pine trees need to be planted before the 1st of May. Suppliers of plants and mulch were discussed. The cost of sterile mulch seemed to be prohibited. An experienced contractor was contacted from Granby Ct and appears to have the necessary tools and equipment..
3. Ma DCR Grant for Linken Trail- It was noted that this project is also in known turtle habitat and should be completed by April 1. The locations for the stump grinding mulch was determined. One at the top of the big hay field and the other at the base of the big hay field. John Dziengelewski, Crestview Construction, is to be contacted about price and availability of the mulch. John & Tom will walk the two trails to be improved before the next meeting. Tom susggested the possibility of placing the iron pipes across some of the real wet areas.
4. Annual Town Report - John Stadnicki reported it is almost complete.
5. Open Space Planning Survey - It was reported there are 150 responses to date. Discussion was held regarding another round of reminding folks.
