Present: Carol Geryk, Anne Murray (Director), Debbie Randzio, Karen Contois, Michael McMahon and Nancy Zdun Regrets: Nancy Stenberg
The regular meeting of the Southwick Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order at 7:08 PM on January 13, 2009 in the Community Room.
A. Public Comment
No public comment.
B. Communications
- Anne presented a listing, which was sent by CWMars, of libraries, which have been decertified by the State. As a matter of policy, the Southwick Library will allow patrons who don’t live in Southwick, but have a Southwick library card to continue using the services of the library. The Southwick Library will not issue library cards to patrons of towns, whose libraries have been decertified. If a library is on the listing, CWMars will not process Inter Library Loans (ILL) for patrons who live in towns with decertified libraries, if the library requests it. CWMars is asking for all libraries to not service patrons who live in towns with decertified libraries. A motion for the trustees to not make a decision on this issue
until after the 2/21 meeting with the Board of Selectman/Finance Committee was made by Karen Contois, with a second by Deb Randzio.
C. Acceptance of Minutes.
- A motion to accept the minutes of the 11/25/2008 and 12/9/2008 with minor changes was made by Karen Contois. Deb Randzio seconded the motion and the minutes were accepted.

Overall, the Dec 2008 statistics show some decreases, which may be attributable to partial snow days on 12/19 and 12/31. Contributions of $13 and $28 were made by Donna Buldrini to purchase materials in memory of Virginia Porfilio and Gertrude Woyshnis, respectively.
E. Old Business
