Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, January 8, 2008
Present: Nancy Stenberg, Karen Contois, Debbie Randzio, Michael McMahon, Nancy Zdun, Anne Murray (Director), Carol Geryk
Michael McMahon called the regular meeting of the Southwick Public Library Board of Trustees to order at 7:07 PM on January 8, 2008 in the Community Room.
A. Public Comment
No public comment.
B. Communications
• The Library Legislative Breakfast will be held February 29, 2008, 8:30 am at the Holyoke Public Library.
• The town review of the library budget for FY 2009 will be held 2/16/2008, 11:00 am at the Land Use Room in Town Hall.
• John Wescott has added several additions to his budget for the library:
• $12,000.00 for gutter work. An 8" drip edge will be added to the front and back of the building, as well as more drop tubes.
• $3000.00 to extend the cement steps and sidewalk extensions by the rear left & Children's room.
• Anne presented the finding of the Adult Programming Survey. 63 persons completed the survey. The results are contained in an attached Excel spreadsheet.
• The Cultural Council has funded a Reptilian Program "Wild Reads at the Library".
• The Friends of the Library will fund $2000.00 of additional Children's and Young Adult programs, such as Short Story writing, Chinese Cooking and scrapbooking.
• The $135.00 collected as part of Dress Down days was donated to the Southwick Food Pantry.
C. Acceptance of minutes
A motion to accept the minutes of December 11, 2007 with amendments was made by Carol Geryk. Nancy Stenberg seconded the motion and the minutes were accepted.

• Includes a $75.00 donation from Andrea Bugbee for the Children's Room, a $100.00 donation through David Szenda from the Progressive Casualty Ins., Co, and a $100.00 donation from Todd and Terry Brown.
E. Old Business
• Anne has finalized and submitted the 2009 FY budget.
F. New Business
• The Friends of the Library are discussing having a Chocolate Social with an Open House as their next fundraiser.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:48 PM. The next Board meeting will be at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 in the Library's Community Room.
