1. Norm made a motion to accept the minutes from the 8/14/08 meeting. Tom seconded the motion all were in favor to accept the minutes as written.
2. Sewer expansion – There was a meeting on August 26th where Tighe & Bond and the Sewer Implementation Committee made presentations to all the town boards. Two more informational meetings are scheduled for the entire town, one on September 9th and one on October 10th. The Phase 2 expansion costs have been estimated to run between $15M and $20M including the interceptor.
3. Ramp Reconstruction – Dick gave us each a drawing of the planned ramp reconstruction. The only problem Dick has with the drawings is the amount of concrete pad on either side of the launch pads and on the end. We would all like to see 3’ of concrete on both sides, like a walkway, to prevent the wheels on the floating docks from dropping off the edge during installation and removal. The Office of Fishing and Boating Access is also reviewing the design with these changes and so is the designer.
4. Local Permitting – The Selectmen are asking for more information, so Dick is in the process of creating a Power Point summary. Their weekly meetings start back up in the fall.
5. South Ramp – We have been having issues with the shore fishermen at the South Ramp. One of the many problems we have with them is that they occupy the “NO FISHING WITHIN 50’ OF THE RAMP” FBA signs and then refuse to move their chairs out of the way when a boater is trying to launch. Dick made up a hand-out from Ray’s notes to pass out to shore fishermen at the South Ramp. Tom made a motion to accept the proposed handout for shore fishermen at the South Ramp with the addition of “swimming and wading absolutely prohibited” pending the approval of the FBA. Norm seconded the motion. The motion passed 6:0.
6. Buoys – There was damage to two buoys going into and out of the South Culvert. One of the buoys had a broken cable and the other had a broken light. Steve went fixed them but we chose not to replace the $250 (each) lights at this time.
7. We have been given copies of Scott Ricker’s letters to Jack Sheppard. Even after the FBA put in a new HP van space at the South Ramp for the handicapped, Ricker again complained that it wasn’t quite right. Jack Sheppard responded that indeed it was correct per State CMR’s.
8. The boat census is now complete. However, there are obvious differences between 2007 and 2008 in the totals. If anyone is interested in going out and doing a recheck please let Dick know.
9. The Annual Town Summer Picnic is Friday, September 12th. We are all invited to share in the feast.
10. Chris made a motion to adjourn. Sue seconded. All in favor.
11. Our next meeting will be held on September 11, 2008.
12. Our meeting was adjourned at 7:35PM.
Respectfully submitted,
