1. Norm made a motion to accept the minutes from the 7/10/08 meeting. Tom seconded the motion all were in favor to accept the minutes as written.
2. Sewer expansion – Southwick has two public meetings planned to discuss Phase 2. The meetings are scheduled for September 9th and October 10th. They will be discussing cost, timing, and what areas are planned to be covered by phase 2. Dick thinks that if all goes to current plans, Phase 2 should be completed in less than 3 years from onset of construction. Suffield is working towards getting RFP’s out next month to select an engineering company. They were told by the CT DEP to do a plan of action and continue to seek to tie into Westfield via Southwick’s sewer system.
3. Ramp Reconstruction – Nothing new to report.
4. Local Permitting – Nothing new to report here as well. We are still on the Selectmen’s agenda but we need to wait until September when the Selectmen are back to weekly meetings.
5. Lake Safety/Noise issues – Once again we all need to think about what by-laws we want to address. Everyone should be prepared to discuss this after the boat count and census.
6. On North Pond there was a mooring and ice bar gone astray. Someone rescued it for us and Steve then saved it and reattached it. There were 4 of the old style in North Pond now only 3. There are not many of the old style left anywhere. We will be buying more of the new style and will eventually populate North Pond with them.
7. There is now a new “NO PWC IN NORTH POND” sign in place at the entrance to North Lake. We are once again trying the same type of signage and are hoping it remains there for a considerable time period.
8. Boat Census-We would like to get this done ASAP. Bill will put a call in to Scotty to find out when he is available.
9. The South Pond was treated today because of algae. The entire pond was a pea soup green. We are all hopeful this treatment will have a quick and positive effect.
10. Norm was told that there are Copperhead Snakes nesting around his beach on White Street.
11. Norm made a motion to adjourn. Ray seconded. All were in favor.
12. Our next meeting will be held on August 14, 2008.
13. Our meeting was adjourned at 7:30PM.
Respectfully submitted,
