The scheduled meeting of the Finance Committee was called to order at 6:40 p.m.
The next scheduled Finance Committee meeting will be on September 22, 2008.
The Finance Committee discussed with L. Carr, Town Accountant receiving an end of year report showing the deficit and surplus line item spending by each department. She will provide this report for the next meeting.
The Finance Committee was unable to approve the minutes of May 12, May 20, June 30 because not all of the members were present for each meeting and turnover of members. They will be on the agenda for approval for September’s meeting. The Finance Committee will invoke the Rule of Necessity to approve these minutes.
The Committee discussed attending the Sewer Implementation Committee informational meeting on August 26, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium. Several of the members will be there.
There was discussion of the Community Development Block Grant that was awarded to Southwick and Granville in the amount of $978,300.00. The proposed budget will include Lakemont Street Infrastructure Improvement Project, Housing Rehabilitation, and the Senior Center Expansion Design Project.
The Finance Committee members were given information on a Municipal Law Seminar to be held on September 26, 2008 at the Log Cabin. The Finance Committee members will rsvp to R. Solek, Secretary to make the reservations.
The Finance Committee would like to meet with M. Hill, T/C/C at the next meeting or thereafter to discuss banking and bank service charges. R. Solek will arrange this.
Chief Krynicki submitted a request for funds to provide full time Academy training for two officers this fiscal year from free cash. The Finance Committee would like to have more clarification on this request.
A MOTION was made by R. Horacek, seconded by C. Garvey (Vote- Unanimous) to adjourn at 7:40 p.m.
