The Fire Department is a semi-volunteer department overseen by the Board of Selectmen acting as the Board of Fire Commissioners.

The Fire Department personnel consist of a full time Fire Chief, a Deputy Chief, two Captains, five Lieutenants, an EMS Officer, four full time EMT's, a full time secretary and a growing compliment of volunteer firefighters and EMT's.

The Fire Department does not charge for open burning permits, but a permit must be obtained for each day that you burn. Open burning is allowed, depending on current weather conditions, from January 15th through April 30th. Permits can be obtained at the Fire Department Office, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until Noon. On weekends and holidays, permits can be obtained from the dispatch area at the Police Station.
