COA Monthly Meeting
April 8, 2008
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER 1:01PM

Present: Lorraine Lawrence, Ed Nitsch, Mary Alice Martin, Joan Plancon, Roy Benson, Herb Pace, Associate member Mary Jane Connolly, and Director Jeanne Margarites.

Bills: Reviewed and signed
Old Business:
• WMACA meeting 3/24/08. Mary Jane and Jeanne went, reported very interesting speaker on Mental Health
• Registry of Motor Vehicles Safe Drivers Workshop 4/14/08 at 12:30PM.
Volunteer Luncheon 5/15/08. Sign up is necessary.
• Health Fair 6/9/08 9:00AM to 12:00 Noon. Lorraine and Joan will man the sign up sheets with Roy and Ed helping. Herb will get addresses from vendors. There will be approximately 30 organizations coming. Mary Jane and Mary Alice will get refreshments. Coffee, orange juice, fruit, and donut holes.
New Business:
• Thursday - April 17 10:30AM to 12:50PM at Easthampton Lathrop Community Center, talks on Elders, Alcohol and Drugs.
• Elder Law Week - 5/12/08 12:30PM Attorney Gina Barry will speak.
• WMACA meeting — Tuesday 5/20/08 8:15am at the Sheraton in Springfield.
• Picnic — June 25 12:30PM. Hot dogs and hamburgers. COA should be here at 11:30AM. Entertainment is Ruth Harkovich the “Julie Andrews from Boston”. Funded by the Cultural Council.
• Dining Center Workshop 3/18/08.; Fewer people are coming, basically because the meals are not satisfying. COA will try different menus such as pot luck, soup and sandwiches, antipasto, etc. When the elderly bring in food, also bring recipes. Hopefully we will get suggestions from elderly. Joan and Nancy will co-ordinate for 2 days each month on a trial basis.
