The Board of Health has overall responsibilities for disease prevention and control, environmental protection, and promoting a healthy community. We have a primary responsibility over private wells, individual septic systems and substandard housing. The Board also responds to a variety of complaints regarding air and water pollution, and general nuisances.
In order to fulfill their duties they develop, implement, and enforce health policies, oversee inspections and maintain minimum standards for sanitation in housing and foodservice establishments to insure that the basic needs of the community are met.
