The Wild Reads @ Southwick Public Library Suntime Reading Program officially begins on June 23, 2008, with pre-registration beginning June 9. Twenty-four young readers in the Children's Room will be awarded prizes in our six weekly drawings. All participants will have the opportunity to receive special coupons for free stuff from local businesses including: Blossoming Acres Farm, the Summer House, Southwick McDonalds, Subway, Mrs. Murphy's Donuts, and Big Y.
The Wild Reads @ Southwick Public Library theme will inspire our Thursday Craft Days where children can make a simple craft in the Children's Room including a monster mask, an elephant puppet, a pencil snake, and more.
Special events for kids in grades 4-6 include Framing A Memory with Nancy LaFlamme and Chicken Stir Fry with Norma Chang, a Brown Bag Book Discussion with Mrs. Storozuk for kids in grades 5 and 6, Bedtime Storytime with Children's Librarian Mrs. Judd for the preschool set, as a grand finale Rainforest Reptiles' Alligators and Crocodiles, a lively family program featuring live animals, followed by light refreshments. More programs will be announced.
